Small Run Silkscreen Printing for Stores on Maui

One of the many things I do is work with cool stores on Maui and do custom design work and green silkscreen runs for them. I don't want to be a mass run silkscreen printer there are plenty of excellent print companies on Maui already doing that. I love doing the smaller more wearable art style tshirt runs. I feel doing this allows flexibility and I can also experiment with different Green inks for those jobs since everyone wants something different. Maui is a great place to do this since there are so many different types of specialty stores there. Anyhow I'm off to work on some of my own shirts.
Have a great day,
Nathalie

Santa Fe Dreaming

I've been visiting with family for the past few weeks in beautiful Santa Fe, NM. One of the first places I visited was Santa Fe Hemp where I've been selling my wearable art shirts now for the past 5 years. It's one of the truly unique cool stores in santa fe and the owner Kathleen her Daughter Kelly and Husband Josh work the store. They are all very creative super nice people and I highly recommend paying a visit there is you ever get the chance. After that visit I went to my other favorite place W21(warehouse 21) where I worked as a silkscreen printer, teacher, graphic designer/web designer for about 4 years. Since this is a silkscreen blog I had to include this visitation. They are not a green studio but do offer both plastisol and water based printing services to the community and it supports a great cause. I learned alot while working there in regards to printing. All the gear I currently have I feel that I have finally earned after years of getto printing;).... I still love and do lots of hand printing but it's also lovely to have a press that allows me to do whatever I want...
Anyhow I hope anyone whose reading this has a lovely new year:)

Permaset inks

I just received some new inks from Permaset. They are an ink company from Australia and are completely solvent free and water based. I plan on doing some experiments with nylon, plastics, paper, wood and a variety of materials to test the inks durability. it's supposed to be excellent for printing both on fabric and paper.

Green Silkscreen Printing

Aloha to all. Well I wanted to start this blog so I could document my own endeavors in the green silkscreen printing world as well as others. There have been so many advances in this field, so much to learn in regards to inks, techniques, solvents and marketing techniques in regards to this and also no blog by an individual printer covering this particular issue, that I thought I'd start one up. Sorry about my run on sentence there but I think I said it all. So in regards to my experience as a printer, I've been printing for about 10 years using water based inks the whole time. I've also been using green solvents for about 3 years which work great. Anyhow I'm off to print up some hemp/organic cotton shirts!
Best,
Nathalie
